Christmas festivities- let’s make a bauble🎄🎅
As the Christmas season is upon us we thought it was time to decide what to do this year and where to go to celebrate the festivities! A somewhat easy decision surprisingly!
We decided to visit a workshop in West Horsley owned by a gentleman called Adam Aaronson. He has been enjoying experimenting with glass for over 40 years and his love for doing so has continued to grow as each year goes on. His site showcases some of his work, including the courses/ short sessions he conducts, a further history into his love for glass making and all relevant information needed.
Back to our glass making session now! As no one had ever blown glass before this was a new and intriguing experience for us all 🙂 The many steps involved in making a Christmas bauble was fascinating. From heating the glass, to rolling it out, dabbing the colours you like and blowing lightly (not lightly at all I may add!) is a beautiful art. We all took it in turns to individually work with Adam and follow his guidance in creating our baubles. All of us found the most difficult stage blowing the glass. If you can play a musical instrument such as the trombone you would have been much better than us! A few pics of us all struggling with this ‘blowing stage’ are below.
Nevertheless, we all managed to blow our glass and finish, making our own individual Christmas baubles (as seen above). This was such a good experience, one we would all take part in again, maybe delving into even more experimental objects to make!
All feeling proud, we have now placed our individual baubles on our Christmas tree’s at home, to enjoy for many years to come :-)🎄
