Will moving your email provider be good for your business?

For as long as we have been building websites, we have been managing emails to help our clients stay connected through their domains. Recently we have been re-evaluating our email providers to see if they still offer our clients the best and most secure way to manage their emails.

Over the years, email has become a more specialised web discipline as the rise and rise of spam has required more sophisticated systems to cope with the high levels of viral attack.

  • Reliability. This is the key reason to use a third party. Generally they will work hard to maintain the integrity of their mailservers and establish trust across the Internet, which means an increase in the number of your emails that are successfully delivered. With a self-hosted solution you’ll be relying on your own mailserver (or the mailserver of your web host) which could, if you’re unfortunate, get blacklisted for spamming or in many cases have its outgoing emails delayed or rejected. These problems can occur with a third party provider but they usually have a team of people constantly at hand to spend time resolving such issues.

We believe that clients should have the most secure and robust email service. We recently made the announcement to clients that we have decided to stop using the Hostgator service  and have suggested moving on to one of the following services as an alternative.

Gmail

we have been using the Google Apps suite for the past 2 years and have never looked back. The speed of search to find just the email you need is head and shoulders above Outlook. You can also help your business collaborate quicker using the Apps suite, with a calendar, document creator and storage facility to share ideas in real time. Outlook 365

Get business-class email, a website, web conferencing, and document sharing, with no IT skills needed to manage it all. For all businesses that feel more comfortable using the microsoft office suite. Google reads and works with these formats but there are slight differences and functions.
